A few weeks ago, Phil Varckette sat down with former wrestler and fitness trainer Stevie Richards. They could certainly have created this (a perfect version that incorporated both sports]similar to what the XFL is doing now by deciding which aspects that they want the NFL to copythe NFL's features.

Yes, EA did have a version that was part of their ESPN license, however EA decided not to take this route.
